The most important place in the realization of multiparameter geophysical observations carried out by the Research Station RAS in the Tien Shan region is occupied by the magnetotelluric complex, which includes three components: magnetotelluric soundings (MTS), deep MTS (DMTS), and magnetovariational sounding (MVS). Magnetotelluric measurements performed in a broad band provide unique information about the fluid regime of the tectonosphere, zones of graphitization, dehydration and partial melting. Models of electrical conductivity of the earth's crust and upper mantle, built for many regions of our planet, provide new material for diagnosing the state of the earth's interior and the processes taking place in them. Today, the confinement of various types of deposits and seismically hazardous zones to the boundaries of geoelectric blocks becomes obvious. And the presence of conductive formations in the section may indicate intense tectonic movements of blocks and the corresponding PT-conditions accompanying this process, as well as the development of rheologically weakened zones. The capabilities of magnetotellurics are unique for solving geodynamic problems, where it acts as one of the main actors in the approach to the integrated use of seismological, geophysical and geodetic data. This method is widely used also due to its sufficient simplicity, mobility, depth and environmental safety.

Works with MTS, MVS and GMTS methods have already been carried out on six regional profiles crossing the Tien Shan territory. The southern boundary of these profiles is the Talas-Fergana fault and the Tarim platform. All profiles crossing the North Tien Shan seismic generating zone, and also pass along the flanks of the seismogenic zone identified at the Central Tien Shan. To clarify the parameters of the objects identified as a result of the interpretation of electromagnetic data on these profiles, detailed works was carried out on a series of local profiles. To date, there are already 17 such short profiles.

Laboratory research strategy:

• participation in a complex study of the deep structure of the earth's crust and upper mantle of the Tien Shan and adjacent territories as one of the leading performers in the region by this topic;

• study of the three-dimensional geoelectric structure of the Tien Shan by magnetotelluric methods;

• realization a preparatory (experimental-methodical) stage by creating an interregional system for magnetotelluric monitoring of seismically active regions of Central Asia in order to study the course of deformation processes at depths up to 100 km;

• construction of complex geological and geophysical models of the deep structure and dynamics of the Tien Shan.

Monitoring observations by EEMP methods. May 2016

In continuation of the monitoring observations by the NEMF methods (methods of natural electromagnetic fields), realized since 2012 at the Bishkek Geodynamic Proving Ground (Kentor minitest site), in the period from May 16 to May 31, 2016, three teams of the DMTS carried out soundings by the AMTS and MTS methods. Observations were carried out in the MT mode on the Central (11 points) and East (18 points) profiles. Also, work was carried out in the AMT mode on the East profile (9 - 18 points). As a result of the observation, magnetotelluric curves were obtained from 0.01 to 3000 seconds periods range.
